I cannot believe that people can be so uninformed about diabetes!!!! No DIET and EXERCISE cannot reverse this, not for type one’s. Also yes we can eat whatever the hell we want, difference is we have to do math before we do! I mean really? Telling someone that they can cure themselves with a fully…

Did someone really say that a vegan diet would cure diabetes?

In adolescent psych, I learned that teenagers believe in the invincibility fable.

That part of being young is not considering getting hurt.

And I wonder what that feels like.

Because I am painfully aware of how lucky I am to be alive

Every finger prick, carb counted, and injection

Just…

My diaversary is March 11th too! 16 years and counting! I know you probably posted this a little while ago. I know how you feel about living with it forever. It’s hard to think about.

I think I posted this around my diaversary BUT I’m super surprised and flattered that it’s still floating around the tumblrbetic community. HOORAY for diaversary twins! 16 years is such a long time, congrats on being sane.

This girl was a type one diabetic who lost her life to a low blood sugar while she was sleep. It is a tragedy that such a young girl died from something we sometimes have very little to no control over. People don’t always believe diabetes is serious, but she is a prime example of how scary and dangerous it is. I’ve heard from just about everyone that when a diabetic goes low in their sleep they wake up and not to worry, and no one believed me that sometimes the low doesn’t wake us up. Now the world knows. Everyone should send up a prayer for Nicole Wilson in hopes that she is now in the arms of God and for her family, who I am sure are devastated that they lost their daughter to this disease. Please repost, hash tagging #singfornicole.

When I was younger, fairly recently diagnosed, and on lantus, I would have lows during the night and wouldn’t wake up; I’d have seizures and ended up in the emergency room several times. If it wasn’t for my parents sleeping with one eye open with a glucagon kit on their nightstand, I would have died. Switching to levemir saved my life, because now I always wake up during low blood sugars, but it’s still very unpleasant. Sometimes checking before bed isn’t enough. God bless this beautiful young girl. It’s not fair. Everyone send your prayers.
